What we would like to talk about is mapping Content Controls and SharePoint properties via Word 2007's custom XML data store. The nice thing about this is that you can do a lot more with Word templates while spending less time managing redundancies around business process. Mapping SharePoint properties to Content Controls in Word 2007 allows you to push and pull data between the two applications with little if any client side code. In this Tutorial we create document templates Auctions and add some Quick Parts which match with the SharePoint Document Libraries properties.

Templates Overview

You should also be familiar with Document Libraries in SharePoint and Document Templates like Office Templates.
When someone creates a new file in a document library, the default template opens the program that you specify with a blank template.
If a library has a default template, it is stored in the Forms folder of the library. You can use a custom template, however, if you want to specify the settings or provide default content that appears in every file, such as a disclaimer in the footer.
